The Human Rights Council yesterday afternoon held an interactive dialogue with Ilze Brands Kehris Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights on Secretary General’s report on cooperation with the United Nations, its representatives and mechanisms in the field of human rights. Hungary has expressed its commitment to engage productively with the ASG’s mandate in the coming future. We have condemned in the strongest possible terms any forms of intimidation and reprisals against individuals cooperating with the UN in the field of human rights. In our statement, we have underlined the importance of applying fair and fully transparent criteria as regards the inclusion of alleged cases of reprisals in the Secretary General’s report. It is our firm believe that enumerating alleged cases not in line with such criteria the SG’s report risks losing its overall impact and credibility.
