H.E. Margit Szűcs, permanent representative of Hungary to the UN and WTO presented her credentials yesterday to the Director General of the WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. At the meeting, she handed over H.E. Péter Szijjártó’s letter of congratulation to the Director General, who is the first African and first female leader of the organization. The ambassador expressed hope that with the leadership of the new Director General the reform of the organization can be accelerated and the twelfth ministerial conference will bring concrete and meaningful results. She also highlighted that the proper function of the WTO is really important for Hungarian exporters, particularly small and medium enterprises. The WTO’s role is crucial in fighting against COVID 19 and building back better after the pandemic, especially in enhancing economic growth and job creation.
